Bernadette Verhagen

Bernadette Verhagen studied viola in Tilburg and at the Sweelinck Conservatory Amsterdam with Erwin Schiffer and Misha Geller. After an active orchestral life in the Netherlands (including KCO and Residentieorkest) she specialized in both contemporary music and playing on authentic instruments.

She was a long-term member of ASKO Schönberg and the Van Swieten Society. Nowadays she can often be heard in various baroque and classical orchestras, such as Les Musiciens du Prince With Cecilia Bartoli, Anima Eterna Bruges,Orchestra of the 18th Century and the southern French Cafe Zimmermann.

Until 2014 she was a coach and coordinator at the Dutch Orchestra and Ensemble Academy NJO. Since 2015 she has been teaching summer courses at the Academy for Ancient Music in Brunico, Italy. As of 2021 Bernadette is project coach (PIA) for master students at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague.
