Solo violin concert

As part of our outreach work we will be cooperating with Domus Magnus.  Our first concert will be performed by artistic director Rebecca Huber in Deventer this March, 2023!

In this solo violin concert, Rebecca Huber will show a progression of violin repertoire from the 17th-19th centuries.  Each piece has elements of improvisation and fantasy which show the flexibility of technique and freedom on the violin.   Beginning with an early baroque Matteis fantasia and ending with a very romantic improvisatory piece by De Beriot, the program will feature baroque, classical and romantic bows and everything will be performed on gut strings, as originally intended by the composers.   The works are incredibly rich and virtuosic and will transport the audience through a time traveling fantasy.

Nicola Matteis – Alia Fantasia (4 minutes)

Biber – Passacaglia (10 minutes)

Georg Phillipp Telemann – Fantasia No. 6 (6 minutes)

J.G. Pisendal –  Sonata in a minor (16 minutes)
