Rebecca leads the baroque orchestra Academy of Early Music from UNAM with an all Handel program at the Festival de Arte y Ciencia in Mexico City.
We can affirm, without a doubt, that George Frideric Handel (1685-1759) is one of the most important exponents of the late Baroque. Originally from Halle, a city in the Duchy of Magdeburg of the Holy Roman and German Empire, he was a cosmopolitan man. In 1703 he traveled to Hamburg where he worked as a violinist and harpsichordist, composed his first two operas and, in addition, made trips to Italy at the invitation of the Medici. Subsequently, he became Kapellmeister to the Prince-Elector of Hanover and eventually, due to his success, settled in England. There he maintained an intense activity as a composer and entrepreneur: director of the Royal Academy of Music, resident composer of the King’s Theater and later of the Covent Garden Theatre. Handel was a prolific composer with a relevant vocal production that includes 42 operas, 24 oratorios, more than 102 cantatas, trios, duets and numerous arias, among which the Academy of Ancient Music collects some to integrate this concert.
