Huismuziek live course Vivaldi’s Gloria

Vivaldi-Gloria-portrait-of-Antonin-Vivaldi

All day workshop for SATB choir and instrumental ensemble.

With his Gloria in D, RV 589, the priest-composer Antonio Vivaldi wrote one of the most famous glorias in the history of music. The fanfare-like opening is best known, followed by a succession of baroque compositional techniques that is unparalleled. The Gloria recounts the angels’ singing after the birth of Christ. The textual contrasts lend themselves perfectly to an expressive performance. We alternate rehearsals between choir and ensemble separately and tutti. The instrumental ensemble is conducted by Rebecca Huber, who is the concertmaster at the tutti rehearsal. Maria van Nieukerken conducts the choir. We will conclude with a publicly accessible final presentation! In preparation you will be sent the sheet music. We play on A = 440 Hz.
