In cooperation with the Lambertushof Foundation Rebecca Huber and Takako Kunigi will play two duets from Niccolò Paganini (1782-1840). Paganini was an Italian virtuoso violinist and composer. His best-known compositions are violin concertos and pieces for solo violin, but in addition he also composed chamber music. He apparently wrote the three duos for violin and bassoon at the request of a Swedish bassoonist, who complained that there were so few virtuoso pieces for bassoon – whether Paganini could do something about it. That he succeeded is abundantly clear from the duets you hear here – they demand the utmost from both musicians!
