The next event of our outreach cooperation work with Domus Magnus will be a duo concert for violin and bassoon by Rebecca Huber and Takako Kunugi.
Rebecca and Takako will play two duets from the Italian virtuoso violinist and composer Niccolò Paganini (1782-1840). Paganini’s best-known compositions are violin concertos and pieces for solo violin, but in addition he also composed chamber music. He apparently wrote the three duos for violin and bassoon at the request of a Swedish bassoonist, who complained that there were so few virtuoso pieces for bassoon – whether Paganini could do something about it. That he succeeded is abundantly clear from the duets you hear here – they demand the utmost from both musicians!
